Character
Creation
At PAF Architecture, each client’s individuality is the source of our
signature design consideration – creating character.
A home’s character may be warm, inviting, spacious, cozy, light, familiar,
or new – or take on some other trait. However it is described, a character-rich
space has an immediate “flavor.” It’s that flavor that
distinguishes a house from all others, and gives us the sense of
being home.
At PAF Architecture, each of our homes is a unique expression of
our clients’ own needs and desires.
Energy Efficiency
PAF Architecture believes that one construction assembly does not fit
all.
We live in a cold climate. High energy costs make it practical for
us to build energy-efficient homes. PAF specializes in cold-climate
design and construction techniques. We call it energy-efficient or
energy-conserving design – it is also called sustainable or
green design. This results in homes that are well-suited for their
building
sites and are comfortable for their owners.
With many energy-conserving materials and systems available, we work
with our clients to choose a construction assembly that is right for
their needs and budget.
Some of the energy-conserving materials and systems used in current
PAF projects include:
• Passive solar design
• ICF
wall construction – Insulated Concrete Forms
• Geothermal heat pump
• Hydronic heating and cooling
• Corn-pellet stove/biomass stove
• Icynene Insulation
• Rainwater and snowment collection and storage
